I had been in contact with the Bremen Family history group 'Die Maus' and have been given lots of assistance by Fritz Hopfgarten. He was going to escort me around old family sites. Unfortunately while visiting Gallipoli prior to a European venture I contracted an infection which put me in hospital in Istanbul for two weeks and a post haste return home. ( for the record the infection could have been Australian or from Abu Dhabi ! ) Gallipoli was worth the visit and while there I wrote in the visitors book at Lone Pine a reference to Hollam Smith who fought at Gallipoli and died in France in Jan 1918. I had organised to visit his grave. A number of families have added information to this site. I remind people that this site only contains the records of deceased persons.
