Sandy Creek Friends - Activities

The group assists with the maintenance of the park by undertaking:
  • Weed & vermin control
  • Flora & Fauna Surveys
  • Re-vegetation Programs
  • Seed Collection

Propagating Sandy Creek plant species using facilities at the University of Adelaide Roseworthy Campus

Comrade Paul Koch, Sandy Creek Primary School Vegetation Survey

The group has a history of working with the local community including local landholders and the Sandy Creek primary School.

Over the last 12 months the group has had a significant impact on weeds such as Boneseed, Olive Trees, and Bridal Creeper.

The Friends currently have funding for additional weed control.

One of the important ongoing activities is the ongoing education of our members.  Knowledge is passed on from the more experienced members and the Park Rangers.

Training visits from professional botanists have been provided through grants.

Recently  Bob Bates, "Orchid Authority", led us on a walk around the park.  Much was learnt and many a photo was taken.  Some images are in the gallery.

A big thank you to Bob!!

To support these activities Sandy Creek Friends undertake related training as opportunities arise. In the past Friends have attended the following courses:
